Quadrant Jump Test

Quadrant Jump Test

Introduction

To assess whole body agility, use the quadrant jump test.

What is the point?

Agility is a key skill for many athletes and games players, allowing them to change direction at speed whilst maintaining control – vital for everything from tennis to rugby.

The quadrant jump test is an excellent way to measure whole body agility.

What do you need?

  • Tape measure

  • Chalk or tape for marking ground

  • Stopwatch

  • Assistant

How do you do the test?

Mark out a quadrant on the floor with a starting line and numbered quadrants.

  • Start with both feet together at the starting line.

  • On the command ‘go’, jump across the line into the first quadrant, then in rapid succession into quadrants 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, etc.

  • Continue with this pattern as quickly as possible for 10 seconds.

  • Rest two minutes then repeat the trial

  • Average your score from two, 10 second trials

Scoring: One point is awarded each time you land with both feet entirely within the correct quadrant, with a penalty of 0.5 points subtracted each time you touch a line or land with one or both feet in an incorrect quadrant.

What results you’ll get :

Take the test at regular intervals throughout the training and competitive season to assess changes in agility.

What is being measured again?

This is a whole body agility test.
